TYPE OF POST
To form a panel from which Specific Purpose posts may be filled.
Please note that contract lengths will vary depending on the number of qualified applicants.
A limited number of placements are available with Kilkenny County Council for periods of 5 to 15 weeks during May - September 2023.
Hours: Variable hours, Monday to Saturday between 8.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m.
Outdoor hours are 10.00am to 7.00pm working 2 days on and 2 days off.
It may be necessary that the occasional Sunday be worked from 2.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age before the 28th May 2023.
Remuneration will be at a rate of €11.30 per hour.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Character
Each candidate must be of good character.
Health
Each candidate must be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Education, Experience etc.
Each candidate must have a good general level of education
Shortlisting
The Local Authority may decide, by reason of the number of persons seeking admission to the competition to carry out a short-listing procedure. The number of persons to be invited to interview shall be determined by the Local Authority. Shortlisting will be based on Application Form or interview or both.
Those who are employed to carry out envoirmental works with Kilkenny County Council will have duties that may include the following:
- Litter Picking
- Landscaping, Weeding, Maintenance of Flower Beds and Flower Displays
- Maintenance of Cemetery
- Any other duties that may be assigned by supervisor.

- You must be available to work for assigned days during your contract period.
- Flexi time is not applicable.
- Annual leave will be accrued and paid pro rata at the end of your contract.
